Message from Canon Benedict

to parishoners at Easter

My dear people,

Daily Masses

My thoughts and prayers are always with you, and for you, at the daily Masses and prayers.  We give thanks to God for the opportunity we have to celebrate the Mass together every Sunday via Facebook.  I am working assiduously to make sure we broadcast the Triduum via a link on our website. It is a work in progress.

“Lord save us lest we perish!”

It is understandable that under the present pandemic situation, feelings of desolation and despondency are likely to set in. But then, this is the time to keep faith and never to forget that Jesus Christ was in the boat when the storm came.  Let us keep saying to Christ in faith as Peter did, “Lord save us lest we perish”. The Holy Father, Pope Francis, encourages all of us with the story of this event in his Extraordinary Orbi et Urbi. The Lord will surely save and deliver us.  Desolation will turn to joy, fear will turn to confidence, and despondency will turn to cheerfulness, for our Lord will save us

Love is the greatest

I thank the many parishioners who have called the Parish to enquire of my well-being, and asking if they could be of help to anyone in difficulty at this time by helping with shopping for food and or other daily essentials. This gesture of Christian charity and solidarity surely gladdens the heart of every one of us.  As we continue to struggle and fight this pandemic, the practical aspect of Christian love is brought into focus in the words of St. Paul - "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1Cor. 13:13)

Your wellbeing and my appreciation

In the light of the lockdown, it is evident that many are unable to carry out their daily activities. I am worried about how some of you have been coping with meeting-up with your different responsibilities. I do hope you are managing well. The good Lord, who is the provider, will surely provide for all our spiritual and material needs. The love which some have shown by asking how to support the Parish through payment of their Sunday offerings has really amazed me.  I, personally, would not ask anything from anyone at this time since I am more concerned about your wellbeing and how you are coping. However, for those who have asked, and are willing to donate, the details for such payment is set out below.   I appreciate this act of charity and love for our parish.May the Lord reward and grant you good health and happiness.
